Best product feedback software

Four different purchases hide under one search term. Here is which shape you need, and the honest options inside each.

7 MIN READ Last updated 23 August 2026

"Product feedback software" turns out to mean four different purchases: a public board where customers post and vote, a survey tool that measures sentiment at scale, a product management platform where feedback is one input among several, or a support inbox where feedback simply arrives as tickets. Picking the wrong shape first is the most common mistake buyers make in this category.

Prices below were checked against each vendor's own pricing page on 20 and 22 August 2026, with Canny.io's tracked-user ladder re-checked separately that day against its help centre.

This post sits inside a wider guide to the category; for the full picture, including what a board is actually built from, see feature request tools.

What kind of product feedback software do you actually need?

A search for "product feedback software" surfaces all four shapes at once, and most buyers have not decided which one they need before they start comparing prices. A public board lets customers post ideas and vote on the ones that matter to them, in the open, with a status that moves from under review to shipped. A survey or voice-of-customer tool measures sentiment at scale, mostly from people who never bother posting anywhere. A product management platform treats feedback as one input among several, next to a roadmap, a strategy document and a release plan. A support inbox is where feedback arrives whether you built anywhere for it to go or not, mixed in with bug reports and billing questions. These are four different jobs, and no single tool below does all four well.

Which is best for a public board where customers vote?

This is the shape most people mean when they search the term, and where the sharpest price differences sit. Canny.io does the most: Autopilot reads Intercom, Zendesk, Freshdesk, Gong and Zoom conversations and captures, dedupes and triages feedback without anyone filing anything, and it syncs with HubSpot and Salesforce so requests can be weighted by account value. Entry pricing is $79 a month billed yearly, $99 monthly, priced per tracked user, with unlimited boards even on the free tier. Frill.co is the cheapest live subscription at $22 a month billed yearly, $25 monthly, priced per workspace. UserJot is $29 a month with no annual commitment forcing that price. Nolt.io is $29 a month billed yearly, $39 monthly. Featurebase starts at $29 per seat per month billed yearly, one seat and one board free, though the seat model means three people costs more than any of the others here. Fider is free and open source under AGPL-3.0, run on your own Postgres, Docker and SMTP. Docket is the one-time purchase in the group: free forever for the core board, Pro $99 once, Studio $249 once, with no server behind any of it because it runs from static files plus two endpoints. It is the cheapest way to own a board outright, and the weakest here on the integrations and AI triage that Canny.io and Featurebase build in. For a closer look at this shape alone, ranked on a stated cost criterion, see best feature voting tools.

Which is best for measuring sentiment at scale?

None of the five hosted vendors above is built primarily as a survey tool, but three carry real voice-of-customer features worth knowing about before buying a separate one. Frill.co embeds NPS, CSAT, quick polls and idea polls directly inside your product, alongside similar-idea detection and a priority matrix, at the same $22 a month billed yearly, $25 monthly, entry price mentioned above. Sleekplan builds CSAT and NPS in from a genuinely free forever "Indie" tier, single admin, with topic analytics arriving at its Business tier; Starter is $13 a month billed yearly, priced per workspace. Featurebase adds NPS and CSAT surveys to its wider suite at the $29 per seat per month billed yearly entry price already covered. None of these three is a dedicated, standalone survey platform in the way this category used to have one: Delighted, owned by Qualtrics, had renewals blocked from July 2025 and closed in June 2026, worth knowing before betting a programme on a name outside this list.

Which is best when feedback is one input to a roadmap?

A product management platform treats a customer's idea as one signal among strategy, capacity and a release plan, and pricing here almost always runs per named user rather than per workspace. Productboard has a genuine $0 free tier with 50 AI credits a month, Plus at $19 a maker a month billed yearly or $25 monthly, priced per "maker" in their own words, with contributors excluded from that count. Jira Product Discovery is free forever for three creators with contributors free and unlimited on every tier including Free, Standard $10 a creator a month, Premium $25 a creator a month, both with annual saving up to 17 per cent. Aha! Ideas starts from $39 a user a month, quoted by Aha! itself as a floor rather than a fixed price, with an Ideas Advanced add-on at $20 a user a month billed annually or $25 monthly on top of that. Roadmunk, now sold as Strategic Roadmaps under Tempo, starts at $19 an editor a month for Starter. ProductPlan publishes no price at all: one unified plan, viewers always free, and the only call to action on its pricing page is to book a demo. For the full breakdown of one of these, see Productboard pricing, explained.

What if feedback already arrives as support tickets?

Sometimes the honest answer is that a team does not need a new board at all, because the feedback is already sitting in a support inbox as tickets. Featurebase covers this directly: a full helpdesk with live chat and an omnichannel inbox, alongside its board, at the same $29 per seat per month billed yearly entry price. Canny.io does not run an inbox itself, but its Autopilot reads conversations out of Intercom, Zendesk, Freshdesk, Gong and Zoom and turns them into board items automatically, at the $79 a month billed yearly entry price already covered. For a team already committed to a ticketing tool, syncing feedback out of it usually beats standing up a second place for customers to repeat themselves.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between product feedback software and a helpdesk?

Product feedback software tracks ideas customers have not got yet. A helpdesk tracks problems customers already have. Featurebase merges both in one product; most tools here, including Canny.io and Docket, keep the two separate and expect you to sync or triage manually.

Which product feedback software is cheapest?

It depends on the shape. Among public boards, Frill.co is the cheapest live subscription at $22 a month billed yearly, and Docket is the cheapest to own outright at $99 once with no recurring bill. Among roadmap platforms, Jira Product Discovery has the cheapest published entry price at $10 a creator a month, with three creators free forever.

Do I need a dedicated survey tool, or does a board's built-in NPS cover it?

For most small teams, the NPS and CSAT already built into Frill.co, Sleekplan or Featurebase covers the basics without a second subscription. A standalone survey platform makes more sense once reporting depth outgrows what a board's surveys were designed for, though this category has shrunk: Delighted closed in June 2026 after Qualtrics blocked renewals the previous July.

What's the difference between product feedback software and idea management software?

Product feedback software is usually built for customers: anyone can post publicly and vote. Idea management is usually about ideas from your own staff, run as an internal programme with different requirements around anonymity, evaluation criteria and who gets to decide what happens next.

Which tool works if feedback already lives in Zendesk or Intercom?

Canny.io's Autopilot reads conversations directly out of Intercom, Zendesk, Freshdesk, Gong and Zoom and turns them into board items without anyone filing anything. Featurebase takes the opposite approach and runs its own full helpdesk alongside its board, so feedback and tickets sit in one inbox rather than two systems syncing.
