Our door staff use a laptop on a stool because the scanning view assumes a big screen. In a 120-capacity room that is most of a table gone.

A laptop on a stool is a good description of a product being used somewhere it was not designed for. Planned.
It will work offline as well, because half the small venues we deal with have thick walls and no signal at the door, and a door list that needs a connection is not a door list.
