Privacy

Your library stays yours.

Last updated: 9 October 2026

This policy covers Muse for iPhone, including its share sheet extension, widgets and Shortcuts. Muse for Mac, the browser extension and this website are covered by the main Muse privacy policy.

The short version

No account, no tracking
No sign-up, no analytics, no advertising. We collect nothing from Muse for iPhone.
Your own iCloud
Your library moves between your iPhone and your Mac through your own iCloud account, which we cannot see.
Only what you choose
Muse receives only what you choose to save, from the share sheet, your camera or your photos.

Who makes Muse for iPhone?

TJH/CO LIMITED (trading as THEODORE HQ), a company registered in England and Wales, company number 16589593. Fairway House, Links Business, Fortran Rd, St. Mellons, Cardiff, CF3 0LT, United Kingdom. Email support@theodorehq.com.

What does Muse for iPhone store?

Everything you save is kept on your iPhone: pictures, videos, links, notes and files, with their titles, sources, collections and tags, plus your settings. Muse never sends any of it to us.

How does my library reach my Mac?

Through your own iCloud. Muse keeps your library in the private iCloud storage that belongs to your Apple Account, and your iPhone and Mac each stay up to date from it. Apple holds that copy under your iCloud account and Apple's privacy policy. We have no access to it, and it uses your own iCloud storage.

If your iCloud is full, new saves wait on your iPhone and Muse tells you, and they go as soon as there is space. Without iCloud, Muse still works and keeps everything on your iPhone.

Does Muse for iPhone use the internet?

Yes, in four ways, and none of them reaches us.

iCloud
Your library travels to and from your own iCloud account, as above.
Site icons
Muse asks each bookmarked site for its icon, once per site, so your links are easy to recognise. The site sees only a request for its icon.
Link previews
Whenever a saved link is shown with a picture, on the wall, on the Links screens or when you open it, Muse asks that page for the picture it publishes about itself. There is no switch for this. Those sites see your IP address, exactly as if you had opened the page yourself.
Pinterest and X
When you save a pin or a post, Muse fetches the picture or video behind the link from Pinterest or X, so you keep the thing itself rather than only the link. They see your IP address and the post you saved.

Camera and photos

Muse asks for your camera only when you take a photo to add. When you add from your photos, you choose them in Apple's own picker and Muse receives only those. It never looks through your photo library.

Search, widgets and Shortcuts

Muse can add your items to your iPhone's own search, so you can find them from the Home Screen. Its widgets and Shortcuts actions read your library on the phone. All of this stays on your iPhone.

Analytics and crash reports

Muse for iPhone contains no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind, and it never sends crash reports itself. If you have turned on Share With App Developers, Apple may pass us anonymous crash reports. That is Apple's system, and you control it in Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements.

Removing your library

Deleting Muse removes everything it stored on your iPhone. Erase This Phone's Copy, in Muse's Settings > General, does the same without deleting the app, and your library stays in your iCloud and on your Mac. To remove the iCloud copy too, delete Muse's data in your iCloud storage settings.

Personal data and your rights

We hold no personal data from Muse for iPhone: no account, no email address and no identifier. The app is free, so there is no purchase or licence record either. Your rights under UK GDPR, and how to complain, are set out in the main Muse privacy policy and apply here too. For any question, email support@theodorehq.com. Every message is read by a person on our team.

Children

Muse is not directed at children under 13, and it collects no personal data from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top and describe any change that affects you in the app's release notes. We will not start collecting data from Muse for iPhone without asking you first.
