What the extension accesses

The extension collects nothing until you act. When you choose to save something - with a right click or the in-page clipper - it reads only the item you chose:

The thing you picked

The image, link, selection or page you chose to save.

Page source

The page's title and address (URL), so Muse can record where it came from and take you back later.

A small content script runs on pages solely to draw the in-page clipper and package what you selected when you invoke it. The extension does not read your passwords, form inputs, messages or browsing history, and it does not watch what you browse.

Where that information goes

The extension sends what you chose to save only to the Muse app running locally on your own Mac, over a local connection (127.0.0.1) that never leaves your computer. That loopback address is the only host the extension is permitted to contact. The Muse app stores your library locally on your Mac.

We do not operate any server that receives this data.
The extension makes no external network requests with your data.
There is no tracking, no analytics, no advertising, and no account.
Your information is never sold or shared with anyone.

Context menus

To add the right-click "Save to Muse" option.

Scripting

To show the in-page clipper and package the item you selected.

Storage

To remember the extension's own small settings in your browser (such as your X Bookmarks preference below).

Notifications

To show a brief on-screen confirmation ("Saved to Muse") when a right-click save succeeds, or to tell you if the Muse app isn't open.

Active Tab

To read the title and address of the page you're saving, only at the moment you choose a "Save to Muse" item from the right-click menu.

Local connection

127.0.0.1: the only network destination, the Muse app on your own Mac.

X (Twitter) bookmarks - optional, off by default

Muse can optionally read the bookmarks you already have open on x.com or twitter.com, so it can file them into your library as you scroll. This is entirely opt-in: the extension asks Chrome for permission to read those two sites only when you turn the feature on from the extension's popup, and Chrome grants access to nothing else. Turning it off immediately un-registers the code that reads the page - it does not merely stop using it.

When it's on, the extension only reads bookmark posts that the X page has already loaded in your browser - it never signs in, never calls X's API, and never asks X for anything itself. What it reads is sent only to the Muse app on your own Mac, the same as everything else in this policy.

Limited Use

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Control

The extension does nothing unless the Muse app is running on your Mac.
Nothing is saved unless you choose to save it.
The X Bookmarks reader is off by default and only reads x.com/twitter.com once you turn it on.
You can disable or remove the extension at any time from your browser's extensions page.
