It shows up most on the saves you make and half forget: a product you were comparing, an article you meant to finish, a look you liked enough to keep. None of those come with a title worth remembering. All of them come with an image you would know on sight.
When does a visual bookmark actually get in the way?
A card with a preview image takes several times the room of a text row, so the same collection scrolls further once it is visual, not less. That trade is worth it for a shelf you actually browse. For an archive of several thousand links, a searchable list is often the faster tool.
Some pages have nothing to show. A login screen, a plain document and most PDFs render a blank or generic preview, so the image tells you nothing and you are left reading the title anyway, now inside a card that took up more room to say less.
And some links were never meant to be revisited by eye. A citation you need for its exact wording, a permalink you are pasting into a form, a reference page you will only ever reach by typing its name into a search box: a card adds nothing to any of those, and a plain, fast list serves them better.
