v1.7.1Aug 15
Nobody Hears From You Twice
A short release, mostly about the send itself.
- The recipient list is re-checked against unsubscribes immediately before sending
- Clearer confirmation after someone unsubscribes, in their own language where we have it
- Faster queue building on lists over 10,000
v1.7.0Aug 11
Send Times That Suit
Everyone reads at a different hour, so an issue no longer has to go out at one.
- Schedule in each subscriber's own timezone, not yours
- A send window rather than a single minute, so nothing queues behind a big list
- The schedule screen now shows what time it will land for most of your list
v1.6.4Jul 31
A Quieter Editor
Small things that were getting in the way of writing.
- Drafts save while you type, not only when you stop
- Pasting from a document keeps your headings and drops the rest
- Images are resized on upload, so a photo straight off a phone no longer bloats the issue
- Captions stay with an image however it got into the editor
- Your archive now publishes a feed at /feed.xml, with the full issue text
v1.6.3Jul 26
Steadier Sending
Nothing you will see, and a lot you should stop noticing.
- Sends are retried on the rare occasion a provider refuses one, rather than being marked failed
- Bounces are recorded against the subscriber instead of only in the log
- Roughly a third less memory used while an issue is going out
v1.6.2Jul 20
Kinder Subject Lines
A small release about the bit everyone reads first.
- Subject lines now truncate on a word boundary, with an ellipsis
- The editor warns you as you approach the length most clients cut at
- Faster preview rendering on issues with a lot of images
v1.6.1Jul 4
Lighter in the Inbox
Gmail cuts a message off at 102KB, so issues had to get smaller.
- Around 40% less HTML on a typical issue, which keeps most of them well under the limit
- The editor shows the size as you write and warns you before you reach it
- Cleaner markup, which also fixed some odd spacing in Outlook
v1.6.0Jun 14
Import From Anywhere
Bringing an existing newsletter across should not take an afternoon.
- Import issues and subscribers from Substack, Buttondown and Ghost
- Keeps your original publish dates
- Improved handling of very large subscriber lists
v1.5.4May 31
Your Archive, Properly
The public archive was an afterthought and had started to show.
- A real archive page with your own colours and logo
- Search across every issue you have published
- Each issue gets its own link, its own preview card, and a sensible title in a browser tab
v1.5.0May 13
Write, Then Schedule
The release that made Fernpost a scheduling tool rather than a sending one.
- Queue issues weeks ahead and reorder them by dragging
- A calendar view of everything waiting to go
- Send yourself a test that renders exactly as the real one will
