About
Klack plays a mechanical keyboard through your Mac's speakers. Every keystroke lands with high-fidelity, spatially rendered sound based on real switches: Cherry MX Japanese Black, Gateron Milky Yellow, NovelKeys Cream and more, with distinct up and down strokes and randomised pitch so no two presses sound identical. It lives in the menu bar, weighs almost nothing and stays out of the way.
Made by Henrik Ruscon, Klack costs $4.99 once on the Mac App Store and reached version 2.1.4 in May 2026. It has ranked number one among paid apps on the App Store and been featured in Forbes, which is remarkable for an app that does exactly one thing. That one thing makes an ordinary laptop keyboard feel like a hobbyist board, and typing becomes strangely moreish.

Curator's Note
“An absurdly simple idea executed with such audio craft that typing without it feels flat.”
