About
Compresto batch-compresses video, images, GIFs and PDFs on your Mac, cutting file sizes by up to 90% with little visible quality loss. Everything runs offline with Apple Silicon hardware acceleration: drop hundreds of files at once, point it at a folder to compress new arrivals automatically, or trigger it from Raycast. Supported formats span MP4, MOV, PNG, JPEG, HEIC, WebP, TIFF, GIF and PDF.
Built by indie developer Dinh Quang Hieu and formerly known as CompressX, it counts Vercel's Guillermo Rauch among the fans quoted on its site. Version 1.29 added offline AI file renaming via Ollama. Licences are one-time: $49 for one Mac or $69 for two, both with lifetime updates. For anyone who ships screen recordings or web assets daily, it earns its keep quickly.

Curator's Note
“It quietly replaced a folder full of single-purpose converters on my Mac and never asks for attention.”
