About
Dropover gives macOS drag and drop a staging area. Shake the cursor mid-drag and a floating shelf appears: drop in files, folders, images, links or text, then carry on gathering from other apps and windows before moving everything to its destination in one go. Shelves handle renaming, image resizing and text extraction directly, and items can even be dropped onto the notch.
Developed by Damir Tursunovic, Dropover is free to download from the Mac App Store, with a one-time $7.99 Pro unlock rather than a subscription. It connects to iCloud Drive, Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive and Amazon S3 for instant shareable links. Once the shake gesture becomes muscle memory, dragging files any other way feels laborious.

- Yoink
Pick Yoink if you want a simpler edge-of-screen shelf that still runs on macOS 10.13 and pairs with an iPhone or iPad: it is $8.99 once, with a free trial.
- Dropzone
Pick Dropzone if you want a grid of actions for uploads and app launching rather than just a shelf: Dropzone 5 is $35 for a lifetime licence, with a 14-day trial.

Curator's Note
“The shake-to-shelf gesture is one of those ideas that instantly feels like it was always missing from macOS.”
