What Mac Dept. is

Mac Dept. is a free, editorial directory of Mac apps, hand-picked for craft, care and beautiful design. Browsing it, searching it and following its links out to other apps costs nothing and needs no account.

Editorial independence

Every app's inclusion is an editorial decision, never a paid placement. A developer cannot buy their way onto a shelf, a collection or a guide, and no listed app has paid for its position or its ranking.

Third-party apps, prices and links

Every app featured is made, priced, sold and supported by its own developer, not by Mac Dept. or Theodore HQ. Prices, features, screenshots and availability shown here are correct to the best of our knowledge at the time of writing, but developers change pricing and features on their own schedule, so always confirm the current price and terms on the developer's own site before buying anything. Any purchase you make happens entirely between you and that developer, under their own terms and refund policy; Mac Dept. is not a party to it and cannot process a refund, a licence or a support request for someone else's app.

Accuracy, and no warranty

We do our best to keep listings accurate and current, but Mac Dept. is provided "as is", without any warranty that a listing, price or feature description is complete, current or error-free. Nothing on this site is professional advice; every recommendation reflects our own editorial judgement.

Submitting an app

Using Submit an App to suggest a listing does not guarantee inclusion. Every submission is reviewed personally, and we may decline, edit or remove any listing at our own discretion, including at a developer's later request.

Acceptable use

• Do not scrape or republish the directory wholesale to build a competing product.
• Do not submit false or misleading information about an app.
• Do not attempt to manipulate rankings, search results or reviews.
• Do not use the site in any way that could disable, overburden or impair it for others.

Intellectual property

The Mac Dept. name, design, layout and written content, including reviews, guides, collections and FAQs, belong to Theodore HQ. Each featured app's name, icon, logo and screenshots remain the property of its own developer, shown here only to identify and describe that app, never to claim any ownership over it.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, Theodore HQ is not liable for any loss arising from a decision made on the strength of information on Mac Dept., or from your use of, or a purchase made on, a third-party app's own website. We do not limit or exclude liability for fraud, for gross negligence, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit, including any statutory rights you have as a consumer.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction. Nothing here removes any right you have to bring proceedings in the country where you live, if your local consumer-protection law gives you that right.

If we change these terms, we will update the date at the top of this page.
