About
Shottr is a 2.3 MB screenshot app, hand-optimised for Apple Silicon, that does things far bigger tools cannot. Scrolling screenshots capture entire web pages and chat threads; built-in OCR copies text from any capture and reads QR codes; a pixel ruler and colour picker handle design measurements; and a clever eraser pixelates or removes objects, including a text-only erase mode for scrubbing sensitive details.
Developer Electric Endeavors keeps it fast and generous: the app is free to use indefinitely, with a $12 Basic Tier licence required for commercial use and a $30 Friends Club tier for enthusiasts who want experimental features early. Version 1.9.1 shipped in December 2025, and S3-compatible upload suits teams that host their own screenshots. It launches instantly, idles at nothing in Activity Monitor, and stays out of your way.

- Screenshot
Stay with Screenshot, built into macOS, if you only need quick captures: press Shift-Command-5 for stills and screen recordings, with nothing to install or buy.

Curator's Note
“It does about eight things bigger apps charge for, in two megabytes.”
