Your licence
When you buy Atlas you receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use it on up to three Macs that you personally own or use. Your purchase covers the major version you buy plus every update released within that version, for as long as you use it. There is no subscription; it is a one-time purchase.
What you may not do
- Redistribute, resell, sublicense, rent or lend Atlas or your licence key.
- Share your licence key publicly, or use it on more than your three permitted Macs.
- Reverse-engineer Atlas to circumvent licensing. (Studying how it works for your own curiosity is fine; defeating the licence is not.)
Price and payment
Atlas is a one-time purchase of $4.99. Payment is handled by Polar.sh, who act as the merchant of record. That means Polar calculates, collects and remits any sales tax or VAT due in your country, so the price you see at checkout is the price you pay. Your card details are handled by Polar and never touch our servers.
Your 14-day right to cancel
Because Atlas is a digital product sold at a distance, you normally have 14 days to cancel for any reason under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. Digital products are a special case: we can only deliver your licence key immediately if you agree to give up that 14-day right. So, at checkout, you are asked to confirm:
- If you tick it, your licence key is delivered straight away and the 14-day cancellation right no longer applies.
- If you leave it unticked, we hold delivery until the 15th day, and you may cancel for any reason before then for a full refund.
This is separate from your statutory rights below, which always apply.
On top of the above, we voluntarily offer a 14-day money-back guarantee: even if you ticked the box for immediate access, you can email support@theodorehq.com within 14 days of your purchase and we will refund you in full. This goodwill guarantee is in addition to, and never reduces, your rights above.
Your statutory rights (Consumer Rights Act 2015)
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, the digital content you buy must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described on this website. If it is not, you are entitled to repair, replacement, a price reduction or a refund as the law provides. These statutory rights override anything in this document, and nothing here removes them.
To make a claim, email support@theodorehq.com. We respond within 30 days.
Product updates and newsletter
We only send our occasional customer newsletter to the email address used at checkout if you opt in. At checkout an unticked box (never pre-ticked) lets you choose to receive it; leaving it unticked does not affect your purchase, and you can unsubscribe with one click from any email. Our lawful basis is your consent under Article 6(1)(a) of the UK GDPR, and we handle this marketing in line with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
App updates
Atlas checks for updates through Apple's Sparkle framework and installs them with your permission. Updates within your major version are included free. You can disable update checks in Settings at any time.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim connected with Atlas is limited to the amount you paid for your licence. We do not limit or exclude liability for fraud, for gross negligence, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that UK law does not permit us to limit, including your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Ending your licence
We may revoke a licence if it was obtained by fraud, if a chargeback is raised without contacting us first to resolve the issue, or in the case of a wilful breach of these terms (for example, distributing your key). We will always try to reach you first. If you simply stop using Atlas, nothing happens; your data is already only on your Mac.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction. Nothing here removes any right you have to bring proceedings in the country where you live, if your local consumer-protection law gives you that right.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms we will update the date at the top and, for material changes, email active customers at least fourteen days before they take effect. Changes that reduce your rights do not apply retroactively to purchases already made.
