What It Does
Stop re-reading emails. Stop second-guessing your spelling. Charm has three features that work together to give you confidence in every word you type. Toggle each one independently.
Catches the typos macOS autocorrect misses - or makes worse. No red squiggles, no right-click menus. Corrections appear with an animation of your choice in under 200ms.
Fixes the things you miss when you're in flow - missing full stops, lowercase starts, comma splices. You keep writing, Charm quietly tidies up behind you.
Finishes your words before you do. Press Tab to accept, keep typing to ignore. It adapts to your vocabulary over time, getting smarter the more you write.

Charm isn't just autocorrect.
There are a few more tricks up its sleeve that make everyday writing genuinely better.
Set up custom shortcuts that expand as you type. Type @@ and it becomes your full email address. Type addr and it becomes your postal address. Type sig and it becomes your email signature. You define the rules.
Charm can auto-replace words with emoji as you type. Write "coffee" and see ☕ appear. Write "heart" and get ❤️. It's delightful, optional, and fully customisable - you choose which words trigger it.
Charm comes with a built-in dictionary that learns your vocabulary. Names, technical terms, slang - add them once and Charm will never flag them again. Your dictionary syncs across all your apps.
Choose exactly which features run where. Want spelling in Slack but not prediction? Only grammar in Safari? You control each feature independently per app and website - or exclude apps like code editors entirely.
How It Works

A local AI model detects spelling errors, grammar mistakes, and predicts your next word. It sits in your menu bar, invisible until it helps.
Corrections appear with a soft glow. Blink and you'll miss it. Press ⌘Backspace to undo any correction and add it to your dictionary.

Charm works with every native Mac app - Notes, Mail, Pages, Messages, and more. In web browsers and web-based apps like Google Docs, Notion, Slack, some features may behave differently because these apps handle text input in their own way. We've built tools to make sure you're covered everywhere - find out more below.
Yes. In Settings, you can choose between two correction modes for each app and website:
Automatic - Charm corrects spelling and grammar in real-time as you type. Best for native apps like Notes, Mail, and Messages where Charm has full access to your text.
Manual - Charm only corrects when you use Fix Selection (⌥⌘V). Best for web apps, browsers, and any app with its own autocorrect that may conflict with Charm. Some apps will need Manual mode to work correctly.
You can also toggle Spells, Polish, and Oracle individually per app. For example, you might want Automatic in Notes, Manual-only in Chrome, and Polish disabled in Slack. This is all customisable.
Fix Selection is an on-demand shortcut (⌥⌘V by default, customisable in Settings) that fixes spelling, grammar, capitalisation, and punctuation. It works everywhere - including web apps, code editors, and any text field that supports copy and paste.
Select text and press the shortcut to fix just that selection. If nothing is selected, Charm automatically selects all text in the field and fixes everything.
Some apps like Safari and Pages have built-in macOS autocorrect. You have two options: disable native autocorrect in System Settings and let Charm handle everything, or use Charm's per-app settings to choose exactly which features run where. You can also set those apps to Manual mode and use Fix Selection when you need it.
Charm currently supports English, with the option to choose between UK English and US English in Settings. Support for additional languages is something we're exploring for the future.

macOS autocorrect only fixes spelling - and often makes things worse. Charm does three things: spelling correction, grammar fixing (capitalisation, punctuation, apostrophes), and word prediction. Plus you can undo any correction with ⌘Backspace, and use Fix Selection to fix text on demand in any app.
Press ⌘Backspace to undo it immediately. The original word comes right back and Charm asks if you want to add it to your personal dictionary. Press ⌘Backspace twice to remove the word entirely.
No. Charm is lightweight. On first launch, it downloads a small local AI model (~50MB), then everything runs locally with minimal CPU usage. Corrections happen in under 200ms.

No. Corrections happen entirely on your Mac. Your keystrokes never leave your computer. Zero servers, zero cloud, zero tracking.
If you choose to enable the optional cloud mode for advanced corrections, text is processed via the OpenAI API - but that's off by default and entirely opt-in.
No. Charm runs entirely offline. All corrections and predictions happen on your Mac using a local AI model. The only time you need a connection is the initial app download and if you choose to enable cloud mode.
Yes. Each license key works on up to 3 Macs. Your license is tied to the key, not the machine.
Automatically. Charm has a built-in updater that checks for new versions in the background. When an update is available, you'll see a notification - one click to install. Updates are free forever with your license.
Boring Stuff
All text processing happens locally on your Mac. Charm does not collect, store, or transmit your text data to any server. Your keystrokes never leave your computer.
If you explicitly enable the optional cloud correction mode, Charm sends text to the OpenAI API for processing. Cloud mode is off by default.
Charm does not include analytics, telemetry, or crash reporting. The app collects no data whatsoever. Your license key is stored locally in your macOS Keychain.
This website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics and Vercel Web Analytics - both cookieless and privacy-friendly. No personal data is collected.
Purchases are processed by Polar. We do not have access to your payment card details.
Your purchase email may be used to send product updates and announcements. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time.
We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Charm on up to three (3) devices per license key. This license is perpetual for the version purchased.

Your license includes free updates to the current major version of Charm. The Software is provided "as is" to the extent permitted by law.
